Well, it has only taken 5 years to update this text. But it is ready at last - and I still need to update the cover page here.

We are what we eat. Bodies are made of muscle, bone, skin, feathers and hair and need good nutrition to build these structures. Our wildlife patients are not baby humans – in fact they do not have similar nutritional needs to the human species at all. But they do need their human carers to understand their unique lifestyles – be it of fast growth, dependence upon gum leaf or the requirement for animal protein.

Good nutrition is the cornerstone of good husbandry. Good husbandry is the cornerstone of successful rehabilitation.

The purpose of this manual is to provide wildlife rehabilitators with specific nutritional requirements for Australian wildlife (Birds, Possums, Gliders, Koalas, Wombats, Echidnas, Bandicoots, Microbats, Macropods, Dasyurids, Reptiles and Amphibians) and the knowledge to meet these specific requirements.

This manual has over 90 colour pages with more than 100 images. More information has been added on refeeding syndrome.
