The koala (Phascolarctos cinereus) is the only species in the Phascolarctidae family. They are an arboreal folivore, feeding mainly on low-energy Eucalyptus leaves. Because of this, Koalas are considered a specialist species due to their care requirements. Koala require carers capable of identifying food tree species.
